Portfolio Update June 2026

A review of the stock market and my portfolio moves - Month 22

June was a relatively challenging month compared to the last few with the Nasdaq and S&P 500 both giving up some ground. The TSX continues to truck along with its wild ride. A friend of mine believes TD Bank will reach over $200 CAD by the end of the year which would be wild. If it does I will be somewhat sad that I sold awhile back but hey at least we have BANK and VDY with a good sized chunk of TD. June flew by for us with multiple family visits and it has ended with a crazy humid heat wave. I hope everyone is staying cool out there!

Major Indices VS My RRSP

Not a whole lot going on this month the Nasdaq gave a bit back, DOW Jones gained and the rest were relatively flat. VDY continues to keep on crushing!

My Moves

I decided to de-risk a little bit this month and take a large gain. I trimmed half of my AMD position and exited HHIS. Moving forward for the rest of the year I will likely be taking a pause from buys with new cash or at least lower the amount as we are looking to purchase a larger home. Arguably I shouldn’t have deployed fresh cash this month however I still want to avoid selling off any equities if possible.

The two exceptions will be:

  • RESP small contributions each month to maximize the grant ($500) requiring ($2500) contributions in the year.
  • Work RRSP for both the match and pre-tax deductions.

TFSA Buys & Sells

  • SOLD
    • AMD (First bought February 26th 2025)
    • HHIS (First bought December 11th 2025)
    • FOR
      • 90% VFV
      • 10% HXQ
  • BOUGHT
    • META

AMD and GOOG are still being actively monitored for more trimming or exiting, I have been holding both since end of February 2026. CRM, META and SHOP are holds until they go for another run as I believe SAAS should within the next year. CRM and META are new buys for me this year and SHOP I first bought in April of 2022 all the way down in 2023 and haven’t bought any since.

Fear and Greed Index

The CNN Fear and Greed Index is hovering around 32, signaling a “fear” state in the broader stock market. I also just discovered that there is a Crypto Fear and Greed Index. The Crypto one is sitting at 27 currently just above the extreme fear territory it has been in for the last few weeks.

Wrap Up

June was a whirlwind of family visits and summer heat, bringing a mix of market challenges and exciting highlights for the portfolio! While some major indices took a breather, it was thrilling to see VDY continue to crush it, keeping our momentum strong. I’ve decided to do a little bit of strategic de-risking as we look ahead to a potential home upgrade later this year, shifting our focus to steady growth rather than aggressive new buys. Even with the market currently feeling a bit fearful, I’m feeling super optimistic about our long-term holds and the path ahead.
