Portfolio Update September 2026

A review of the stock market and my portfolio moves - Month 25

Just like that another summer has come and gone it was a pretty great one. Summer with a baby is fun introducing them to splash pads in the park, swimming in the pool many get togethers with friends and family!

Major Indices VS My RRSP

September marks the fourth month now of relatively flat markets with the Dow Jones giving back the most. I’ve actually debated very quickly I might add if I should split some QQQM into SCHD.

My Moves

I did a combination of saving cash in a HISA account and did another spousal RRSP albeit smaller than I would like incase we end up moving sooner especially if the market pulls back.

My automated monthlies executed as normal:

  • RESP small contributions each month to maximize the grant ($500) requiring ($2500) contributions in the year. These are put into XEQT
  • Work RRSP for both the match and pre-tax deductions is in an etf portfolio and is the ultimate handsoff account

TFSA Buys & Sells

  • BOUGHT
    • CASH (manual DRIP)
    • META just a small amount but I’m thinking of increasing that position by 20%

I have been doing some more thinking around my single stock positions and I do want to exit CRM by the end of year. AMD I still believe that I will but I’m going to keep my ear to the ground and decide based on as much information as I can get. As for the hyperscalers GOOG and META I’m starting to lean towards holding into next year and even potentially adding AMZN

RRSP Buys & Sells

As mentioned earlier I did a smaller than normal contribution this month as I battle between holding cash on hand for upcoming expenses and investing. I can always make some large contributions in the first 60 days of 2027 to maximize the tax refund

  • BOUGHT
    • 33% VFV
    • 33% QQCL
    • 33% BANK

Dividend Increases and Decreases

  • CASH 0.84 -> 0.87

Fear and Greed Index

What are the chances ( I know 1 in 100 ) the CNN Fear and Greed Index is at 45 again this month. This is neutral bordering on fearful, in the broader stock market. The Crypto Fear and Greed Index is still in greedy territory at 60. I continue to put a small amount into BTC with every pay.

Wrap Up

As another wonderful summer came to a close with pool days and park visits with the little one, September brought more of those characteristically flat markets while keeping our long-term goals on track. We balanced building up cash reserves and fine-tuned our spousal contributions, all while staying disciplined with our automated savings and core account strategies. Here’s to wrapping up a fantastic season and heading into the final stretch of the year with steady financial momentum!
